Interesting afternoon, led by Paul ZR, on commissioning, with a striking amount of discussion focusing on integrated care.

Stimulating and enjoyable.

Also several interesting side conversations.

Healthy Deaf Minds

Invited to present with three others at a meeting of about 100 on NHS Reforms and deaf people.

Some new learning done fast.

First Board

Chaired the first Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Collaborative Board.

Curiously unnerving to start. Felt good enough by the end.

A glorious spring day. And the Health Bill now having a pause.

Away(half)day

Afternoon at Roots and Shoots, with new board, David Matthews and few others. Updated vision and values, then rather daunted by outlined workplan. Felt decent and a good gang.

Health Bill getting lots of attention.

Biggish meeting looking at pathway redesign and possible recommissioning of Tier 3. Interesting stuff from public health.

17 02 10 Lambeth Community Care Centre

Impressive meeting at LCCC to celebrate and reminisce 25 years of the centre. Fine turnout orchestrated by the Friends, including many great and good. Meeting also lobbying against any possible closure of the centre.

Fascinating clash between the very compelling old ways of local care, ownership, engagement even passion, starting to run up against the new with commissioning, providing, change, value for money. Meanwhile, decisions aren’t taken.

Was given copy of the book, A Place Like Home, describing the early days of the centre. Felt inclined to review the DH document Halfway Home, and ordered a second hand book about the Peckham Experiment (18p via Amazon). Suspect these old books likely filled with ideas we may be about to have again.
